After traveling to Los Angeles and playing the San Francisco Punk Homecoming in September – and after playing an unannounced gig in Oakland in October masquerading as the Velvet Underground ( 3 days before Lou Reed passed! ) – Factrix will be back in action, opening for Lumerians, Friday, November 22, at the Chapel in San Francisco.
The Chapel looks like a very civilized venue for gatherings of up to 600 people, with a restaurant and bar on-site. San Francisco, right? … but I’m not going to get nostalgic about the good old days at CBGBs. Different times, different venues. The Chapel is located at 777 Valencia Street, between 18th and 19th Streets, in the Mission. Admission is $12 per person in advance, and $15 per person at the door. Here’s the link.
Lumerians are new to me, but they’ve done some good music and nice videos too, which you can see on their web site. The music I’ve heard is dark and dreamy stuff, deliberately psychedelic but not entirely a revival of that era’s sound, a new hybrid. I’d encourage people to check them out. Playing first is a band I’m unfamiliar with, Li Xi. Couldn’t find a Facebook page, but no doubt they will fit in well with Factrix and the Lumerians.
